During the week I’m a mild mannered professional portrait and reportage photographer working for editorial, corporate and advertising clients. However, at the weekend I become a dynamic wedding photographer using the same refined lighting and compositional skills gained through many years as a picture editor and photographer for titles including The Guardian, Time Out Magazine, The Sunday Times and The Times.

I have a creative reportage style, capturing the day as it unfolds in an unobtrusive professional manner. I like to work closely with the couple and wedding organsers in planning and making sure that the wedding pictures are as stunning as possible.

I am based in Bexhill, East Sussex. My other site for non-wedding photography is www.jamesclarke.me

Testimonials....

"James did a smashing job. He was professional and focused, while also a very relaxed, friendly presence. Ahead of the day, there were times when I felt that he understood what we wanted from our wedding photos much better than we did. And when we got the pictures, this was even more apparent. With very little direction from me, he managed to capture the feeling and essence of our wedding brilliantly. Every time I look back over the photos, I find myself impressed with the job he did in so many new ways. It’s not just the pictures of me and my husband that I treasure, but the ones of all our guests. On top of all this, James was a joy to have at the wedding. Everyone loved him." Anna Shepard, Features Editor, Mother & Baby Magazine

"From first enquiry to final delivery, James did a marvellous job shooting our wedding. We wanted a great set of editorial-style pictures documenting our big day and were really happy with the result. Ours was a 'destination wedding' in Europe with a relatively small party (of 50) so it was important to us that our photographer fit right in and have a good rapport with everyone. James and his assistant were able to do that easily because they're such nice people – for us, it was like having a couple of unexpected guests you were happy to see, except you never got the chance to chat to them because they were too busy and professional, taking lovely photos of your Big Day." Kevin Johns, Creative Director, The Clearing

“From the moment we first contacted James a year before the wedding, his enthusiasm and professionalism for wedding photography were apparent in equal measure, continuing right through to the day itself and with the speedy turnaround of our photos afterwards. His impressive portfolio combined with competitive rates were second to none, and we have lost no time at all in recommending his services to other friends. We are delighted with our pictures, which capture all the best parts of our wedding day. Thank you James!” Tori Leyman, Freelance Journalist.

“James photographed our wedding. He was an excellent wedding photographer and most importantly produced great photographs in a style suited to the feel of our day as requested in the brief. We were particularly pleased that James is a pleasure to have around and made us and our guests feel at ease. This I am sure contributed to the fantastic shots he was able to capture.” James Bird, Head of Arts, Government Department of Culture, Media and Sports
